Day 1 – Welcome to Colombia!

Day 1: Arrival in Bogotá
Welcome to Colombia! Upon arrival at Bogotá's international airport, you'll be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel in the heart of La Candelaria, Bogotá’s enchanting colonial district. Once settled at Hotel de la Ópera, a beautifully restored boutique hotel, you’ll have the evening to unwind or explore the vibrant streets of La Candelaria.

La Candelaria is bursting with character, from its colonial architecture and colorful street art to its eclectic cafes, galleries, and artisanal shops. Take a leisurely stroll to immerse yourself in this lively neighborhood. For an even richer experience, we are happy to recommend or reserve tables at Bogotá’s top restaurants and venues for live music, art exhibitions, and local entertainment.

Day 2: Exploring Bogotá and Journey to Villavicencio

Morning:
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel, preparing for an immersive tour of Bogotá. Your guide will meet you at the hotel for a morning city tour, where you'll experience the highlights of Colombia’s vibrant capital.
  • Monserrate: Begin with a cable car ride up to Monserrate, a mountain overlooking the city, for breathtaking views and the chance to visit the iconic sanctuary at the summit.
  • Historic Center: Explore Bogotá’s historical heart with stops at key landmarks, soaking in the city’s storied past.
  • Botero Museum & Gold Museum: Admire the works of Colombia’s beloved artist Fernando Botero, followed by a visit to the Gold Museum, home to one of the most extensive collections of pre-Colombian gold artifacts in the world.

Afternoon:

Evening:

Day 3: Rafting Adventure in the Güejar River Canyon

Embark on a thrilling day exploring the Güejar River Canyon, a symbol of Colombia’s transformation from conflict to peace. After an early snack at the hotel, you’ll travel to the charming town of Mesetas (approx. 2 hours 40 minutes). Greeted by local hosts, you’ll change into adventure-ready gear before enjoying breakfast.

After a safety briefing at El Limón, dive into the exhilarating waters of the Güejar River. Navigate rapids, marvel at waterfalls, and hike trails surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Serranía de La Macarena foothills—a true blend of adrenaline, nature, and peace.

Your 17-kilometer rafting journey begins, taking you through pristine waters framed by stunning waterfalls and rock formations. Along the way, your guides will share captivating stories of this region’s rich history as you navigate the river’s exhilarating rapids.

Marvel at unique sights, including a massive rock formation shaped like "The Titanic," and prepare for the enchanting Valley of the Fairies. Capture incredible photos at designated spots, with a chance to pause for a refreshing snack.

At the journey’s end, you’ll arrive at an ecotourism farm, where lunch awaits and shower facilities are available. In the afternoon, return to Mesetas to relax and enjoy dinner at a charming rural hotel.

Day 4 & 5: Waterfalls, Trails, and Nature’s Jacuzzi

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before setting off in a 4x4 with your guide to the trailhead. After a scenic 40-minute hike, arrive at the viewpoint overlooking Crystal Looms—a 40-meter curtain-like waterfall. Descend to the base, where you’ll feel the power of the falls and can capture stunning photos or even walk behind the cascade.

Enjoy a local snack, then continue along the ecological trail to El Jacuzzi del Amor and the San Antonio waterfalls. Here, you’ll have time to relax in natural rock pools shaped over millennia.

Return to Mesetas for lunch, followed by dinner and a restful evening at your hotel.

Day 5: Discover the 5 Wonders of Güejar

  • Caño Lajón Waterfall: Your first stop is this breathtaking 15-20 meter waterfall, surrounded by impressive rock formations.
  • Natural Slides and Rapids: Embrace the thrill of body rafting through sections of the river’s rapids.
  • Natural Jacuzzis: Challenge yourself to dive into the river’s natural jacuzzis and let the current carry you.
  • Natural Pools: Conclude the tour by relaxing in serene natural pools, taking in the beauty of this remarkable place.

After your journey, return to Mesetas for lunch, followed by dinner and a well-deserved rest at your hotel.

Today, you’ll embark on an extraordinary adventure to Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City), a mystical site dating back to 800 BC—500 years older than Machu Picchu. This unforgettable journey, led by native guides, promises peace, tranquility, and awe-inspiring nature.

Morning:
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing at 9 a.m. for a drive to El Mamey (about 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, savor a traditional Colombian lunch to fuel up for the hike.

Afternoon:
Begin your trek with your guide, covering 7.6 kilometers (about 3 hours) through dense jungle and mountain terrain to reach Adam’s Cabin, where you’ll spend the night. Near the cabin, visit the serene Waterfall of Honduras, nestled in the mountains—a perfect spot for relaxation and photos.

Evening:
After dinner, unwind and sleep in a hammock under the stars, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the forest.

Day 11: The Lost City Trek – Day 2

After breakfast, continue your trek with an 8-hour, 14.7-kilometer journey to Romualdo Cabin. Along the way, you’ll stop at the indigenous town of Mutanyi—a rare chance to connect with local culture and cool off in the refreshing waters of the Buritaca River.

Arriving at Romualdo Cabin by evening, enjoy a hearty dinner around 6 p.m., followed by a restful night in beds or hammocks equipped with mosquito nets, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Day 12 & 13: The Lost City Trek

Start the final leg of your trek in the early morning, hiking approximately 3 hours to reach the awe-inspiring Ciudad Perdida. Take in this remarkable ancient site as your guide shares the history and secrets of this mystical city, hidden for centuries in the jungle.

After a meaningful exploration, you’ll depart together and trek about 4 hours to Mumake Cabin, where you’ll enjoy dinner and unwind with your group in the peaceful surroundings.

Day 13: The Lost City Trek – Day 4

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., after which you’ll relax and sleep in a hammock with a mosquito net, immersed in the peaceful sounds of the jungle.

Day 14 & 15: Return to Santa Marta - Farewell Colombia

Day 14: Return to Santa Marta

Enjoy breakfast at 7 a.m. before beginning the 3-hour hike back to El Mamey. Upon arrival, you’ll have lunch and then meet your driver for the journey back to Santa Marta, arriving at your hotel around 5 p.m.
