Trekkers will traverse diverse landscapes, from lush forests and glacial terrains to traditional Sherpa villages, immersing themselves in the local culture and traditions. With visits to iconic locations like Gokyo Lakes, Kala Patthar, and Everest Basecamp, this trek encompasses all the highlights. This trek isn't for everyone and is considered one of the most difficult teahouse treks in the region, demanding excellent physical fitness and mental endurance.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Arrive in the bustling city of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. After your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Take time to rest and prepare for your adventure. You can explore the vibrant streets of Thamel in the evening, a popular tourist hub.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

Enjoy a full day of sightseeing around Kathmandu, visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These historic and spiritual landmarks offer a glimpse into the rich cultural history of Nepal.

Day 3: Kathmandu – Lukla (2,860m) – Monjo (2,835m)

Early morning flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. After landing on the famous short runway, begin your trek. Descend through lush forests and picturesque Sherpa villages, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, before reaching Monjo. Monjo is located just before the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 4 & 5: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Today, you'll enter Sagarmatha National Park and make a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Khumbu region. The trail offers breathtaking views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks along the way. Namche Bazaar is a vibrant town where trekkers gather to acclimatize.

Day 5: Rest at Namche (Visit places, short hikes, acclimatization)

Spend the day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. You can hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. Visit the Sherpa Museum or explore the markets of Namche. Rest is essential as you prepare for the high altitude ahead.

Day 5 & 6: Trek to Tengboche & Dingboche

Day 6: Trek to Tengboche (3,860m)

From Namche, you’ll trek along scenic trails with stunning views of Ama Dablam. After crossing the Dudh Koshi River, make a steep climb through forests of rhododendron and pine to reach Tengboche. Here, you can visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest in the region, which offers striking views of Everest.

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4,410m)

Descend to Debuche and cross the Imja Khola River. You’ll gradually ascend through Pangboche, passing through alpine meadows and pastures, to reach Dingboche. This picturesque village lies in a valley surrounded by towering peaks, including Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Island Peak.

Day 8 & 9: Rest day in Dingboche - Trek to Lobuche

Day 8: Rest day in Dingboche (Visit places, short hikes, acclimatization)

Another day for acclimatization. You can explore Nangkartshang Gompa or take a short hike to the Nangkartshang viewpoint (5,083m) for panoramic views of Makalu and Ama Dablam. Relax and prepare for the challenging Kongma La Pass tomorrow.

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4,940m) via Kongma La Pass (5,535m)

This is a challenging day as you cross the Kongma La Pass, the first of the three high passes. The trail to the pass is steep and rocky, but the views from the top are spectacular. After crossing the pass, descend to the Khumbu Glacier and continue to Lobuche, a small settlement with views of Pumori and Nuptse.

Day 10 & 11: Rest day in Lobuche - Trek to Everest Base Camp

Day 10: Rest day in Lobuche

Take a rest day in Lobuche to recuperate from the Kongma La Pass crossing. You can explore the area and prepare for the trek to Everest Base Camp tomorrow. This is a crucial rest day to acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 11: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and stay at Gorakshep (5,164m)

A big day as you trek along the Khumbu Glacier towards Everest Base Camp. After arriving at Gorakshep, the last settlement before Base Camp, drop your gear and continue the trek to Everest Base Camp. Enjoy the view of the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding mountains. After soaking in the incredible atmosphere, return to Gorakshep for the night.

Day 12 & 13: Trek to Zongla - Trek over Cho La Pass

Day 12: Morning Visit to Kalapattar (5,545m) and Trek to Zongla (4,830m)

Wake up early to hike to Kalapattar, the best viewpoint for unobstructed views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, and other Himalayan giants. After the exhilarating sunrise, descend to Zongla, where you’ll prepare for the Cho La Pass crossing the next day.

Day 13: Trek over Cho La Pass (5,420m) and to Thangnag (4,700m)

Start early to tackle the challenging Cho La Pass. The ascent is steep and often icy, requiring caution. Once at the top, enjoy breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and surrounding peaks. After crossing the pass, descend into the Gokyo Valley and continue to Thangnag.

Day 14 & 15: Trek to Gokyo - Trek over Renjo La Pass

Day 14: Trek to Gokyo (4,790m), half-day rest

Today is a shorter day as you trek to Gokyo, a serene village by a turquoise glacial lake. The Gokyo Lakes are considered sacred, and the surrounding scenery is awe-inspiring. Take the afternoon to rest and explore the area around Gokyo Lake.

Day 15: Trek over Renjo La Pass (5,360m) and stay at Marlung (4,210m)

The third and final pass is the Renjo La Pass, offering some of the most stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and the Gokyo Lakes. After crossing the pass, descend to Marlung, a quiet village located on the way to Thame.

Day 16 & 17: Trek to Thame - Trek to Monjo

Day 16: Trek to Thame (3,800m)

From Marlung, the trail descends along the Bhote Koshi River, passing through small Sherpa settlements until you reach Thame. Thame is famous for being the hometown of legendary mountaineers like Tenzing Norgay and Apa Sherpa. You can visit the Thame Monastery, one of the oldest in the region.

Day 17: Trek to Monjo (2,835m) via Namche Bazaar

Retrace your steps back to Namche Bazaar, where you can take a short break, enjoy a final glimpse of Everest, and continue the descent to Monjo, where you will spend the night.

Day 18 & 19: Trek to Lukla - Return to Kathmandu

Day 18: Trek to Lukla (2,860m)

On your last trekking day, you’ll walk from Monjo back to Lukla. This is a relatively easy day with mostly downhill trails through forested areas and villages. Celebrate your successful trek in Lukla before the flight back to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Return to Kathmandu (1,400m)

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu in the morning. After your return, you can rest or explore more of Kathmandu. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner and reminisce about your incredible trek through the Himalayas.

This trek covers three major passes—Kongma La, Cho La, and Renjo La—providing stunning views and a more adventurous route than the standard Everest Base Camp trek.
